This pan-Asian sauce is excellent for marinating tofu.
1 cup water
1/2 cup rice vinegar
1/2 cup tamari
A large squirt of toasted sesame oil
1 teaspoon dried ginger
Optional:
Chopped cilantro
Chopped fresh ginger
Sesame seeds
A little hot sauce/oil
Mirin
(And maybe a bit of sugar!)
Combine everything in a small pot, and slowly heat the marinade for 3-5 minutes, but don’t let it boil. Pour it over one pound of firm tofu. Marinate it at least two hours. Now you can eat it cold, stir fry it, or even make Mushroom-Tofu Stroganoff.
